Reed’s Qatar and UAE teams hosted a cocktail reception for the Rt. Hon. Lord Peter Mandelson, British Secretary of State for Business Affairs, during his recent visit to promote business between London and the Gulf.

Rt. Hon. Lord Peter Mandelson, British Secretary of State for Business Affairs, met with HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani to review bilateral relations and means of boosting them, especially in the areas of trade and investment.
The Reed-sponsored Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) Reception was attended by British Ambassador John Hawkins, a delegation of representatives of British companies travelling with Lord Mandelson and an array of Reed’s clients and QBBF members.
QBBF chairman Bob Muir reflected on Qatar’s economy, which offers many diverse opportunities for British companies wishing to do business there.
Maria Brown, Associate Director for MENA for Reed, spoke with Lord Mandelson and he was delighted to hear of Reed's continued growth into Qatar, and the instrumental role the recruiter is playing attracting talent into this demanding emerging market – specifically supporting developing British businesses and increasing foreign trade between the two countries.

The Reed Family of Companies is celebrating it's 50th year of business in 2010 and is one of the largest private recruitment and HR services company in the world incorporating 30 specialist recruitment divisions, a dedicated vendor managed service, end-to-end recruitment process outsourcing services and HR consulting across the entire working life cycle.
Reed was established on the 7th May 1960 when Alec Reed opened the first Reed branch in Hounslow, West London - with an initial investment of just £75. During the 1960s Reed expanded rapidly with a clear strategy to secure prominent, prime site locations to ensure attraction of the best candidates for its clients. Perhaps our greatest achievement is that from modest beginnings the company has grown organically, and not by acquisition, into a business with over 3,500 Co-Members (staff) and over 400 recruitment branches globally.
Reed was the first recruitment company to offer specialist recruitment services in the UK, a move which fundamentally changed the UK recruitment market, and it was this early combination of presence, innovation and specialisation that made the brand instantly recognisable to a wide audience Reed’s success has been a result of giving customers what they want, whether it's the right people or the best job; we have an established winning reputation with a growing number of clients for continually innovating and improving the services we offer.
Our Purpose is to be First Choice for People; our Philosophy is that People Make the Difference; our Promise is The Intelligent Response.
